A Cartographic Memoir

The Lake District

A Cartographic Memoir of 6 Days in the Lake District challenges traditional methods of cartographic drawing, questioning the historic and contested notion of ‘mapping’. The duet drawing sought to encapsulate a ‘cartography’ of 6 days and 5 nights climbing, walking and socially communing in the unique and powerfully intense heights of the Lake District. and the experience of venturing some of the highest peaks in the UK. The piece holds ephemeral records of memory, sensorial experience, and climate. Fragments of geological material collected and carried through the mountains and terrains anchor the drawing and construction as physical memoirs of the landscape.
